Las Vegas – January 5, 2011 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced nine new products for service providers at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Building on the company’s expertise in home networking, the new set of Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) solutions are designed to meet the needs of mobile, cable and wired service providers (SP) that are looking to consolidate networks and grow additional revenue streams in new service areas.

“As the landscape continues to evolve, service providers are consolidating their networks at a rapid pace in order to realize the significant benefits and cost savings that a converged, all-IP network can deliver,” said Michael Clegg, vice president and general manager, Service Provider Business Unit, NETGEAR. “We leveraged our years of expertise in home and business IP networking to develop a product portfolio that gives service providers flexible and reliable solutions to best meet the needs of their customers. With the nine new products announced today, NETGEAR has raised the bar in integrated IP service delivery platforms.”

The new NETGEAR SP offerings include top features that enhance providers’ portfolios, including:

  • Dual WANs for always-on, high-availability network service
  • An OSGi framework so that SPs may develop new vertical IP-based services that are delivered using the gateways as service delivery platforms
  • Dual Band WiFi for clear, high-performance broadband access
  • Wired VoIP lines and DECT base units for high quality voice service

New Mobile Broadband Solution

The new mobile Broadband router (MBR1000) with both 3G/4G and Ethernet WAN delivers performance that rivals wired broadband. It is ideal for remote locations and nomadic usage by providing an instant WiFi Internet hot spot. The dual WAN feature makes it perfect for business deployments where cost of network outages is high, with the HSPA+/LTE and wired Broadband operating in fail-over. The MBR1000 is also an ideal solution for use while in transit such as on trains, buses and boats and in IP-enabled fleet management applications.

New Gateway and Telephony Solutions

NETGEAR’s newest offerings for wired service providers include an OSGi-enabled VDSL2 and GigE dual WAN gateway (VEVG3700) that can be used in DSL, FTTH or DOCSIS networks. The new high-performance gateway features Gigabit Ethernet and WiFi Dual Band, as well as a CAT-iq DECT base station and wired VoIP lines (offering 6 x 6 IP-PBX functionality), making it perfect for both residential and small business applications. The VEVG3700 gateway is also a DLNA® /UPnP server so it can seamlessly access digital media content that is stored on an attached USB device or devices on the LAN.

Also announced today is the stylish Digital Home Hub (DHH1000), the VDH1000 and VDB1000 DECT handset and charging base. The DHH1000 has all the same great features as the VEVG3700, but includes ADSL-2+ WAN. The VDH1000 and VDB1000 is a cordless 1.8/1.9GHz DECT solution that has an LCD display and delivers high quality voice telephony, advanced calling features, long reach and co-exists with WiFi.

New Cable Gateway Solution

The new cable gateway (CG3202) is the first DOCSIS 3.0 Dual Band WiFi cable solution, delivering top performance for real time applications including video, audio, voice and online gaming. This full-featured gateway has been developed for the connected home or business with multiple computers and multiple applications. This product is also available in EuroDOCSIS™ 3.0 (CG3302).

The VEVG3700, DHH1000 and CG3202/CG3302 are the latest products in a family of OSGi-enabled gateways from NETGEAR that enable easy integration of applications such as home security, appliance control, health monitoring, energy management and media sharing services.

Expansion into IP Home Security

Today, NETGEAR is also introducing the first products in its interactive home security solution that enable service providers to offer an expanded portfolio of IP based home security services. The new security solution can generate significant new revenue from service providers’ existing customers. The new solution is powered by iControl software, which can be loaded to existing security controllers. NETGEAR’s new IP home security products include:

  • The Android based Home Security Screen (HSS101), used to view surveillance video, control lighting and HVAC as well as see live traffic, weather and news.
  • An IP camera (HSC101) with night vision and motion detection for video surveillance.
  • A wireless range extender (WN2000RPT) to bridge the WiFi signal between outside IP cameras and screens to the existing home network.
