DLNA certification makes it easy to identify NETGEAR products that will share video, music, and photos seamlessly with other DLNA Certified® devices

– November 3, 2010 — NETGEAR®, Inc, a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and Internet service providers, today announced that its N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700) and ReadyNAS® Ultra family of network attached storage systems have been certified by the Digital Living Network Alliance, assuring effortless compatibility with other DLNA Certified® devices.

The NETGEAR WNDR3700, the Ultimate Networking Machine, is one of the first retail routers in its category to have DLNA certification. Any USB hard drive plugged into the USB port of the WNDR3700 can now be a DLNA Certified® media streamer, sending video, music and photos to DLNA Certified® home theater devices like gaming consoles, Internet enabled TVs, Blu-Ray™ players and photo frames.

The NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra family of home media servers can send video content to a DLNA Certified® game console or television, even when the devices are in different rooms and no home computer is turned on. NETGEAR’s partnership with Skifta also allows a ReadyNAS to stream content across the Internet to a location beyond the home network, such as a friend’s house.

Consumers can look for the DLNA logo on home networking and electronics products to know the devices they choose will work with other DLNA Certified® devices, regardless of manufacturer. DLNA is rapidly emerging as the standard of choice for home networking and is supported by 200 companies worldwide, with more than 8,500 certified devices. DLNA Certified® products include televisions, mobile phones, printers, digital cameras, Blu-ray™ and DVD players, video game consoles, digital photo frames, storage devices and computers.

“NETGEAR has been a leader in advancing the vision of computers, peripherals, consumer electronics and mobile devices connected in one seamless network – a vision we share at DLNA,” said Nidhish Parikh, chairman of the Board of Directors and president of the Digital Living Network Alliance. “We look forward to working with NETGEAR moving forward and know that they will take advantage of the many benefits of DLNA interoperability to make consumers’ home networks even more valuable in the months and years to come.”

“We are strong supporters of DLNA because it opens up new experiences and gives customers peace of mind in knowing all their DLNA Certified® products will easily work together,” said David Henry, senior director of product marketing, Home Products, at NETGEAR. “As more and more types of devices are added to home and business networks, we will continue to grow the number of DLNA Certified® NETGEAR products.”
