New gateways deliver high-throughput performance and support innovative services while reducing operator costs.

AMSTERDAM -- October 22, 2013 -- NETGEAR, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced immediate availability of two new high-performance, vector-enabled platforms for telco service providers, the NETGEAR Dual WAN VDSL2 802.11ac Wireless Gateway (VEGN2620) and the NETGEAR VDSL2 Channel Bonded 802.11ac Wireless IAD (VEVG2660). The company is demonstrating its latest solutions for the connected home in Hall 11, MR3 of the Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam's RAI Exhibition Centre from October 22-24.

Telco operators face a number of challenges today; chief among them is the delivery of adequate network bandwidth to enable advanced revenue-generating services while also driving down the cost of their service delivery model. NETGEAR has designed the VEGN2620 and the VEVG2660 (the "VEGN26x0") to address these challenges through VDSL, channel bonding and g.vector to deliver more effective access bandwidth to home and small business locations, enabling HD IPTV, IP voice, and high-availability Internet. These OSGi-capable devices seamlessly integrate with third-party applications to enable new services. They can support a variety of USB attached devices, such as storage or a NETGEAR AirCard USB modem for advanced 4G LTE mobile broadband connectivity. Moreover, through the NETGEAR genie application, a simple, elegant dashboard, the end customer can manage, monitor, and repair the home network easily, reducing costs as a result of fewer service calls.

"We developed these products to simplify operational cost control, enhance deployment and support efficiencies, and fulfill the promise of next-generation service delivery. The VEGN26x0 is a complete triple-play service delivery platform, offering greater flexibility with VDSL vectoring and fiber WAN options, combined with unmatched 802.11ac wireless rate and reach, IP-based voice support with DECT base station, and advanced OSGi-based application integration," said Mark Dehmlow, director of marketing for NETGEAR Service Provider Business. "We're providing what's truly the ultimate operator service-enablement platform."

Key features of the VEGN2620 and the VEVG2660 include:

  • Dedicated VDSL2 and GigE WAN ports
  • 2-port VDSL2 channel bonding to double the available bandwidth to the end-user
  • Vectoring-capable, reducing noise interference and increasing bandwidth rate and reach
