Revolutionizes 10-Gigabit networking with next-generation cost-effective 10GBASE-T Copper Web Managed Switch for less than $100 per port

SAN JOSE, Calif. — September 27, 2016 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR), a leading provider of networking equipment ,today set a new bar for the networking industry by introducing the NETGEAR ProSAFE® XS716E 16-port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Web Managed (Plus) Switch to its portfolio of the industry’s first affordable 10-Gigabit Copper (10GBASE-T) switches for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) including government agencies, educational facilities, and hospitality sites.

The new XS716E is joining the successful XS708Ev2 8-Port version already on the market, offering twice as many ports in the same form factor. These 10GBASE-T offerings are available for as little as $82 per 10-Gigabit Copper Ethernet port, in stark comparison to many 10GBASE-T solutions which can cost $400 per port or more.

10GBASE-T for small and medium networks

The ProSAFE XS716E provides sixteen 10G copper connectivity ports, with one shared (combination) 10G SFP+ fiber port, at a very affordable price point compared to traditional enterprise switches. With 10GBASE-T, customers can use the standard RJ45 Ethernet jack and the Cat6 or Cat7 copper cable already broadly deployed within their existing network. The network speed can be improved tenfold from Gigabit to 10-Gigabit with minimal network changes.

As part of the ProSAFE Web Managed Switch product family, this 10-Gigabit 16-port version offers some fundamental features beyond those of plug-and-play Unmanaged Switches. These features, for optimizing network performance, include VLAN support, QoS, IGMP snooping, port trunking/link aggregation, rate limiting, and traffic monitoring.
